Scincella rupicola
Rare visitor: recorded only occasionally in this country
Range
Recorded from Vietnam; see species account for evidence limits
Scincella rupicola (Scincella rupicola) is a lizard recorded for Vietnam in the project inventory. Its supporting occurrence note is “GBIF: 18 Vietnam records”. The exact scientific name is retained because many Vietnamese reptiles are recently described, geographically restricted or difficult to distinguish from close relatives. This profile therefore separates the recorded identity and occurrence from broader biological context instead of inventing unsupported locality, size, diet or breeding details (project species data; Reptile Database taxonomy).
Scincella are small, smooth-scaled ground skinks of leaf litter, loose soil, grass and forest-floor cover. They are often active by day or in dim conditions, moving rapidly through litter and feeding on small arthropods. Many species are subtle and locality-restricted, requiring scale counts, body proportions and collection locality for reliable separation. These are genus-level ecological notes rather than confirmed species-specific observations from Vietnam, and no exact clutch, size or elevation values are inferred (general Scincella ecology; Reptile Database).
