Plestiodon tamdaoensis
Rare visitor: recorded only occasionally in this country
Range
Recorded from Vietnam; see species account for evidence limits
Plestiodon tamdaoensis (Plestiodon tamdaoensis) is a lizard recorded for Vietnam in the project inventory. Its supporting occurrence note is “Expert range list”. The exact scientific name is retained because many Vietnamese geckos and skinks are recently described, geographically restricted or difficult to distinguish from close relatives. This profile therefore separates confirmed identity and occurrence from broader ecological context instead of inventing unsupported locality, size or breeding details (project species data; Reptile Database taxonomy).
Plestiodon are smooth-scaled, diurnal skinks that forage on the ground or low surfaces for insects and other small prey. Juveniles of many species have striped bodies and vivid tails, while adults may become more uniformly coloured. They shelter under rocks, logs and litter and lay eggs. These are genus-level traits; no exact clutch size or local breeding schedule is assigned here (general Plestiodon ecology; Reptile Database).
