Lipinia microcerca
Rare visitor: recorded only occasionally in this country
Range
Recorded from Vietnam; see species account for evidence limits
Banded Lipinia (Lipinia microcerca) is a lizard recorded for Vietnam in the project inventory. Its supporting occurrence note is “Expert range list”. The exact scientific name is retained because many Vietnamese geckos and skinks are recently described, geographically restricted or difficult to distinguish from close relatives. This profile therefore separates confirmed identity and occurrence from broader ecological context instead of inventing unsupported locality, size or breeding details (project species data; Reptile Database taxonomy).
Lipinia are small, slender skinks that forage by day on tree trunks, low vegetation or the forest floor, taking tiny arthropods. Many have bright longitudinal stripes or contrasting tails, but colour alone may not distinguish close species. They shelter under bark, logs or leaf litter. These are genus-level traits, not a species-specific clutch, incubation or habitat-elevation claim (general Lipinia ecology; Reptile Database).
