Sacalia quadriocellata
Rare visitor: recorded only occasionally in this country
Range
Recorded from Vietnam; see species account for evidence limits
Four-eyed Turtle (Sacalia quadriocellata) is a reptile recorded for Vietnam in the project inventory. Its supporting occurrence note is “Expert range list”. The accepted scientific name is retained because regional taxonomy and species boundaries can change, while similar-looking taxa may require detailed morphology or genetic evidence for reliable separation. This profile therefore distinguishes the recorded identity and occurrence from broader biological context instead of inventing unsupported locality, size, diet or breeding details (project species data; Reptile Database taxonomy).
Sacalia eyed turtles are small semi-aquatic turtles named for eye-like markings on the back of the head. They use shaded forest streams, pools and wet banks, feeding opportunistically on small animals and plant material. Head pattern, shell shape and plastron markings help distinguish related species. These are genus-level notes rather than observations from a particular Vietnamese locality, so exact size, habitat, diet and clutch information is not inferred (general Sacalia account; Reptile Database).
