Manouria impressa
Rare visitor: recorded only occasionally in this country
Range
Recorded from Vietnam; see species account for evidence limits
Impressed Tortoise (Manouria impressa) is a reptile recorded for Vietnam in the project inventory. Its supporting occurrence note is “GBIF: 16 Vietnam records”. The accepted scientific name is retained because regional taxonomy and species boundaries can change, while similar-looking taxa may require detailed morphology or genetic evidence for reliable separation. This profile therefore distinguishes the recorded identity and occurrence from broader biological context instead of inventing unsupported locality, size, diet or breeding details (project species data; Reptile Database taxonomy).
Manouria tortoises are terrestrial forest turtles with sturdy limbs and domed shells. They forage slowly through leaf litter and ground vegetation for plant matter, fungi and occasional animal material, and require humid retreats. Members lay eggs on land, with nesting behaviour differing from that of many other tortoises. These are genus-level notes rather than field observations from Vietnam, so exact measurements, habitat, diet and clutch information is omitted (general Manouria account; Reptile Database).
