Siebenrockiella crassicollis
Rare visitor: recorded only occasionally in this country
Range
Recorded from Vietnam; see species account for evidence limits
Black Marsh Turtle (Siebenrockiella crassicollis) is a reptile recorded for Vietnam in the project inventory. Its supporting occurrence note is “Expert range list”. The accepted scientific name is retained because regional taxonomy and species boundaries can change, while similar-looking taxa may require detailed morphology or genetic evidence for reliable separation. This profile therefore distinguishes the recorded identity and occurrence from broader biological context instead of inventing unsupported locality, size, diet or breeding details (project species data; Reptile Database taxonomy).
Siebenrockiella are dark-shelled freshwater turtles associated broadly with slow water, marshes and vegetated lowland wetlands. They spend much of their time in water but also use banks and damp cover, feeding opportunistically on animal and plant material. Shell shape, head markings and plastron details aid identification. These are genus-level notes rather than observations from a Vietnamese locality, so exact measurements, habitat limits, diet and clutch values are not inferred (general Siebenrockiella account; Reptile Database).
