The crested myna, also known as the Chinese starling, is a starling native to south-eastern China and Indochina, named for the tuft of feathers on its forehead that resembles a crest. It is typically found in open spaces near urban and agricultural areas (Wikipedia, general species account).
It is a popular cage bird and has been accidentally released in a few places outside its usual range; it was introduced around 1890 into the Vancouver region of British Columbia, for example.
