Acridotheres leucocephalus
Rare visitor: recorded only occasionally in this country
The vinous-breasted myna or vinous-breasted starling (Acridotheres leucocephalus) is a species of starling in the family Sturnidae. It is found in Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam. Description It has a yellowish bill and grey upperparts. Acridotheres leucocephalus is the scientific name used in the project list. This account uses species-wide information and does not imply that every trait has been documented separately in Vietnam. (Wikipedia, general species account).
Starlings are social, strong-legged passerines that forage in trees and on the ground. Their diets commonly combine fruit and invertebrates, with some species also exploiting farmland or settlements. Many gather in flocks outside the breeding season and nest in cavities. These are family-level traits rather than precise local measurements, so the species account above should guide identification and range (general Sturnidae ecology).
