Vietnamese Leaf-toed Gecko (Dixonius vietnamensis) is an agamid or gecko recorded for Vietnam in the project inventory. The supporting occurrence note is “Expert range list”. Its use of the exact scientific name is important because Southeast Asian lizard taxonomy changes frequently and several close relatives were described only recently. Where a familiar English name is present it is retained; otherwise the scientific name avoids inventing an unsupported vernacular name (project species data; Reptile Database taxonomy).

Leaf-toed geckos of the genus Dixonius are small, nocturnal ground and rock dwellers that hunt arthropods among leaf litter, low vegetation and crevices. Their divided toe pads and detailed scalation help separate species, many of which have restricted Southeast Asian ranges. These are genus-level traits, not evidence for a precise local diet, clutch size or incubation period (general Dixonius ecology; Reptile Database).
