Gehyra lacerata
Rare visitor: recorded only occasionally in this country
Range
Recorded from Vietnam; see species account for evidence limits
Lacerated Dtella (Gehyra lacerata) is an agamid or gecko recorded for Vietnam in the project inventory. The supporting occurrence note is “Expert range list”. Its use of the exact scientific name is important because Southeast Asian lizard taxonomy changes frequently and several close relatives were described only recently. Where a familiar English name is present it is retained; otherwise the scientific name avoids inventing an unsupported vernacular name (project species data; Reptile Database taxonomy).
Gehyra geckos are nocturnal climbers with broad adhesive toe pads, using rock faces, trees, crevices and sometimes buildings. They hunt small arthropods after dark and hide in narrow retreats by day. Identification relies on toe structure, scalation, pattern and locality because related species can look similar. These are genus-level ecological notes rather than species-specific Vietnamese breeding measurements (general Gehyra ecology; Reptile Database).
