Tropidophorus hainanus
Rare visitor: recorded only occasionally in this country

Recorded from Vietnam; see species account for evidence limits
Tropidophorus hainanus (Tropidophorus hainanus) is a lizard recorded for Vietnam in the project inventory. Its supporting occurrence note is “GBIF: 65 Vietnam records”. The exact scientific name is retained because many Vietnamese reptiles are recently described, geographically restricted or difficult to distinguish from close relatives. This profile therefore separates the recorded identity and occurrence from broader biological context instead of inventing unsupported locality, size, diet or breeding details (project species data; Reptile Database taxonomy).
Tropidophorus are rough-scaled skinks commonly associated with shaded forest streams, wet rocks and saturated banks. They forage for small invertebrates and can enter water or hide in submerged crevices when threatened. The degree of aquatic specialization and reproductive biology varies across the genus, and closely related forms may have narrow ranges. These are genus-level notes rather than confirmed ecological observations for this particular species in Vietnam, so exact diet, clutch and elevation values are not inferred (general Tropidophorus ecology; Reptile Database).
