Subsessor bocourti
Rare visitor: recorded only occasionally in this country
Range
Recorded from Vietnam; see species account for evidence limits
Subsessor bocourti (Subsessor bocourti) is a snake recorded for Vietnam in the project inventory. Its supporting occurrence note is “Expert range list”. The accepted scientific name is retained because regional snake taxonomy and species boundaries can change, while similar-looking species may require scale counts, anatomy or genetic evidence for reliable separation. This profile therefore distinguishes the recorded identity and occurrence from broader biological context instead of inventing unsupported locality, size, diet or breeding details (project species data; Reptile Database taxonomy).
Subsessor is an aquatic homalopsid lineage associated broadly with slow fresh water and wetland margins. Its robust body and head shape suit underwater hunting, where fish and other aquatic vertebrates form part of the prey base. Like other homalopsids it has rear fangs and bears live young, so wild individuals should not be handled. These are general genus-level notes rather than Vietnam-specific field observations, and exact habitat, measurements, diet and litter values are omitted (general Subsessor account; Reptile Database).
