Cerberus schneiderii
Rare visitor: recorded only occasionally in this country
Range
Recorded from Vietnam; see species account for evidence limits
Schneider's Bockadam (Cerberus schneiderii) is a snake recorded for Vietnam in the project inventory. Its supporting occurrence note is “Expert range list”. The accepted scientific name is retained because regional snake taxonomy and species boundaries can change, while similar-looking species may require scale counts, anatomy or genetic evidence for reliable separation. This profile therefore distinguishes the recorded identity and occurrence from broader biological context instead of inventing unsupported locality, size, diet or breeding details (project species data; Reptile Database taxonomy).
Cerberus dog-faced water snakes are aquatic or semi-aquatic homalopsids of brackish coasts, mangroves, tidal creeks and nearby wetlands. They swim with much of the body submerged and take fishes, crustaceans and other aquatic prey. Homalopsids bear live young and possess rear fangs, so wild individuals should not be handled. These are genus-level ecological notes, not confirmed observations for this Vietnamese record; exact habitat, prey, size and litter values are omitted (general Cerberus account; Reptile Database).
