Sphenomorphus annamiticus
Rare visitor: recorded only occasionally in this country
Range
Recorded from Vietnam; see species account for evidence limits
Sphenomorphus annamiticus (Sphenomorphus annamiticus) is a lizard recorded for Vietnam in the project inventory. Its supporting occurrence note is “Expert range list”. The exact scientific name is retained because many Vietnamese geckos and skinks are recently described, geographically restricted or difficult to distinguish from close relatives. This profile therefore separates confirmed identity and occurrence from broader ecological context instead of inventing unsupported locality, size or breeding details (project species data; Reptile Database taxonomy).
Sphenomorphus are forest skinks that typically forage on or near the ground among leaf litter, rocks, logs and stream margins. They eat insects and other small invertebrates and retreat quickly into cover. The genus contains many similar regional forms, so scalation, proportions and locality matter more than general brown coloration. These are genus-level ecological notes rather than exact species-specific breeding information (general Sphenomorphus ecology; Reptile Database).
