The Oriental skylark is a lark of the Sino-Indian region and parts of Central Asia. Like other skylarks it lives in open grassland, feeding on seeds and insects. It is also called the small, eastern, Indian or lesser skylark (Wikipedia, general species account).
It was described in 1831 by James Franklin, and the meaning of the species name is uncertain.
