15cm
The paddyfield pipit, or Oriental pipit, is a resident (non-migratory) breeder in open scrub, grassland and cultivation in southern Asia east to the Philippines. It is a large pipit at 15 cm but otherwise undistinguished, mainly streaked grey-brown above and pale below with breast streaking, long-legged with a long tail and a long dark bill. The sexes and seasons look alike (Wikipedia, general species account).
In winter it is hard to separate from other pipits that migrate into the area, such as Richard's and Blyth's pipits, but it is smaller and dumpier with a shorter-looking tail and weaker fluttering flight, and its usual call is a chip-chip-chip.
