The crab-eating macaque, also called the long-tailed macaque or cynomolgus monkey, is a macaque native to Southeast Asia. It is synanthropic, thriving near human settlements and in secondary forests, and is omnivorous and frugivorous (Wikipedia, general species account).
It lives in matrilineal groups of 10 to 85 individuals, with females staying in their natal group and males leaving at puberty. People regard it variously as smart and adaptive, as sacred, and in some places as a pest.
