The grey-shanked douc langur is a douc species native to the Vietnamese provinces of Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Kon Tum and Gia Lai. It is very similar to the red-shanked douc: light grey with a pale underside, black feet and hands, dark grey shins, a brownish-orange face with a white chin, and a white throat lined with an orange-brown collar. Males are slightly larger than females (Wikipedia, general species account).
The total population was estimated at 550–700 animals in 2004; in 2016 Fauna & Flora International announced an additional population of more than 500 in central Vietnam, bringing the total to roughly 1,000. Breeding is usually between August and December, with a gestation of about 165 to 190 days and births from January to August, during the fruiting season. Females mature at about four years.
