Leaf buds, seeds, fruit, berries and flowers
Habitat
Forest
Range
North-eastern India to Vietnam, including Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Myanmar and Yunnan; rare in far eastern Bangladesh and south-east Bhutan

The grey-headed parakeet is closely related to the slaty-headed parakeet, and the two form a superspecies. The face is grey-green and the rest of the head dull green, with a faint pale green band from below the cheeks to the hindcrown, no wing patch and a long tail. It is found from north-eastern India to Vietnam, in nearly all of north-east India and the far south-east of Bhutan, and is extremely rare in far eastern Bangladesh (Wikipedia, general species account).
It is often seen in flocks or family parties, with larger groups reported, and gathers in large flocks to roost at dusk. The diet is varied, of leaf buds, seeds, fruit, berries and flowers. After the breeding season from January to March, females often lay four or five eggs. SoIB 2023 rates it a Moderate conservation priority, a summer migrant and localised winter migrant of forest with a Restricted range of about 8,950 km² and insufficient data on trends (Wikipedia, general species account; SoIB 2023).
