Phylloscopus pulcher
Rare visitor: recorded only occasionally in this country
The buff-barred warbler (Phylloscopus pulcher) is a species of leaf warbler (family Phylloscopidae). It was formerly included in the "Old World warbler" assemblage. It is found in Bhutan, China, India, Laos, Myanmar, Nepal, Thailand, and Vietnam. Its natural habitats are boreal forests and temperate forests. It is primarily found at low altitudes. Phylloscopus pulcher is the scientific name used by the project species list.
This species belongs to a group of small, active songbirds that generally search foliage, stems or ground cover for insects and other small invertebrates. Many are easier to detect by voice than by sight, particularly in dense vegetation, and closely related forms may require calls, season and range for confident identification. These are group-level ecological notes, not Vietnam-specific breeding measurements (general warbler ecology).
