Locustella luteoventris
Rare visitor: recorded only occasionally in this country
The brown bush warbler (Locustella luteoventris) is a songbird species. Formerly placed in the "Old World warbler" assemblage as Bradypterus luteoventrus, it is now placed in the newly recognized family Locustellidae. It is found in Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, Hong Kong, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Thailand, and Vietnam. Its natural habitat is boreal forests during breeding and subtropical and tropical forest in the winter quarters.
This species belongs to a group of small, active songbirds that generally search foliage, stems or ground cover for insects and other small invertebrates. Many are easier to detect by voice than by sight, particularly in dense vegetation, and closely related forms may require calls, season and range for confident identification. These are group-level ecological notes, not Vietnam-specific breeding measurements (general warbler ecology).
