Acanthosaura phongdienensis is a medium-sized horned agama described in 2019 from central Vietnam. Males measure about 73–77 mm from snout to vent and are green above and white below, with black flank blotches and a black head, neck and shoulder patch; spine tips are yellow-green. Females are smaller at 59–65 mm, brown above, and have shorter crests and proportionately shorter tails (Nguyen et al. 2019).

The species is known only from Phong Dien Nature Reserve in Thua Thien-Hue Province. Type specimens were found at night on trees and close to small streams in evergreen forest between about 165 and 1,019 metres, indicating arboreal daytime activity followed by exposed sleeping perches. It is presumed to hunt small invertebrates like related horned dragons, but detailed diet and reproduction have not yet been published; the account therefore avoids unsupported clutch estimates (Nguyen et al. 2019; Wikipedia summary).
