Recorded from Vietnam; see species account for evidence limits

Calotes wangi (Calotes wangi) is an agamid or gecko recorded for Vietnam in the project inventory. The supporting occurrence note is “Expert range list”. Its use of the exact scientific name is important because Southeast Asian lizard taxonomy changes frequently and several close relatives were described only recently. Where a familiar English name is present it is retained; otherwise the scientific name avoids inventing an unsupported vernacular name (project species data; Reptile Database taxonomy).

Calotes are diurnal agamids that hunt insects from vegetation or the ground and often show marked colour changes during display or stress. Many sleep exposed on narrow branches at night. Habitat tolerance varies from intact forest to gardens and farmland, so the species-level locality evidence remains important. These are genus-level ecological notes rather than precise measurements or breeding data for this particular taxon (general Calotes ecology; Reptile Database).
