Bronchocela smaragdina, Günther's bloodsucker, is a slender green agamid with a very long tail and small head scales. Vietnamese diagnostic work notes a sharp canthus, no enlarged scales between the eye and tympanum, a nuchal crest of about fifteen very small upright scales and no dorsal crest. Its leaf-green colour and narrow body conceal it effectively among vegetation (Günther 1864; Hoang et al. 2020).
The species occurs in Cambodia, Thailand and southern Vietnam; verified Vietnamese records include Lam Dong and Binh Thuan. It is a diurnal, arboreal insect hunter of evergreen forest, moving along slender branches and foliage and relying on camouflage when still. Recent work has clarified its distribution alongside the similar endemic B. vietnamensis, making scale characters, tympanum proportions and tail measurements important for reliable identification rather than colour alone (Vietnamese agamid review; Hoang et al. 2020; Wikipedia).
