Trimeresurus vogeli
Rare visitor: recorded only occasionally in this country
Range
Recorded from Vietnam; see species account for evidence limits
Vogel's Pit Viper (Trimeresurus vogeli) is a snake recorded for Vietnam in the project inventory. Its supporting occurrence note is “Expert range list”. The accepted scientific name is retained because regional snake taxonomy and species boundaries can change, while similar-looking species may require scale counts, anatomy or genetic evidence for reliable separation. This profile therefore distinguishes the recorded identity and occurrence from broader biological context instead of inventing unsupported locality, size, diet or breeding details (project species data; Reptile Database taxonomy).
Trimeresurus pit vipers are often arboreal or semi-arboreal ambush hunters, resting among shrubs and low branches while using facial heat-sensing pits to detect warm-bodied prey. Many are green, but colour and pattern alone do not reliably identify closely related species. Their venom can cause serious injury, so they should be observed only from a safe distance. These are genus-level ecological notes rather than confirmed observations for this Vietnamese record, and exact size, prey and reproduction are not inferred (general Trimeresurus account; Reptile Database).
