Lycodon meridionalis
Rare visitor: recorded only occasionally in this country
Range
Recorded from Vietnam; see species account for evidence limits
Vietnamese Large-toothed Snake (Lycodon meridionalis) is a snake recorded for Vietnam in the project inventory. Its supporting occurrence note is “GBIF: 5 Vietnam records”. The accepted scientific name is retained because regional snake taxonomy and species boundaries can change, while similar-looking species may require scale counts, anatomy or genetic evidence for reliable separation. This profile therefore distinguishes the recorded identity and occurrence from broader biological context instead of inventing unsupported locality, size, diet or breeding details (project species data; Reptile Database taxonomy).
Lycodon wolf snakes are mainly nocturnal hunters with enlarged front teeth used to seize lizards, frogs and other small vertebrates. Many climb walls, rocks or vegetation and shelter by day beneath bark, stones or in crevices. Bold bands are common but can resemble those of venomous snakes, so colour alone is unreliable for identification. These are genus-level notes rather than Vietnam-specific observations of this species; exact size, diet, habitat and clutch data are omitted (general Lycodon account; Reptile Database).
