Trimerodytes aequifasciatus
Rare visitor: recorded only occasionally in this country
Range
Recorded from Vietnam; see species account for evidence limits
Trimerodytes aequifasciatus (Trimerodytes aequifasciatus) is a snake recorded for Vietnam in the project inventory. Its supporting occurrence note is “GBIF: 9 Vietnam records”. The accepted scientific name is retained because regional snake taxonomy and species boundaries can change, while similar-looking species may require scale counts, anatomy or genetic evidence for reliable separation. This profile therefore distinguishes the recorded identity and occurrence from broader biological context instead of inventing unsupported locality, size, diet or breeding details (project species data; Reptile Database taxonomy).
Trimerodytes water snakes are semi-aquatic natricines associated with streams, ponds and other freshwater margins. They swim readily and search for fishes, frogs, tadpoles and aquatic invertebrates, while also using rocks, banks and vegetation as cover. Species boundaries and names in this group have changed with taxonomic revision. These are genus-level notes rather than observations tied to this Vietnamese record, so exact size, habitat, diet and reproduction are omitted (general Trimerodytes account; Reptile Database).
