The scaly-breasted cupwing, or scaly-breasted wren-babbler, is a very small babbler with almost no tail, about 9 cm long and 19–23 g, with olive plumage on the back and lightly scalloped on the chest. It is found in southern and eastern Asia from the Himalaya to Indochina, in subtropical moist montane forest, within which it is usually found near water (Wikipedia, general species account).
The species undertakes some altitudinal migration, moving closer to sea level in winter over some of its range. The cached account gives no breeding information. SoIB 2023 rates it a Low conservation priority, a resident and altitudinal migrant forest bird with a Moderate range of about 80,900 km² and insufficient data on the long-term trend (Wikipedia, general species account; SoIB 2023).
