Cnemaspis psychedelica
Rare visitor: recorded only occasionally in this country
Range
Recorded from Vietnam; see species account for evidence limits
Psychedelic Rock Gecko (Cnemaspis psychedelica) is a gecko recorded for Vietnam in the project inventory. The supporting occurrence note is “Expert range list”. Retaining the exact scientific name is especially important because Vietnam has exceptional gecko diversity, many species are known from very small areas, and taxonomic revisions continue to separate close-looking populations. The account therefore distinguishes confirmed identity and occurrence from broader natural-history context (project species data; Reptile Database taxonomy).
Cnemaspis are small climbing geckos associated with rocks, tree trunks, caves and crevices in forest or karst. Many mainland species are active by day or around twilight and take small arthropods. Their ranges can be limited to a single hill or island, making exact locality, colour pattern and scale counts essential for identification. These are genus-level ecological notes, not unsupported breeding figures (general Cnemaspis ecology; Reptile Database).
