The particolored flying squirrel is a small flying squirrel found in Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, China, India, Laos, Myanmar, Nepal, Thailand and Vietnam. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical dry forest, and it is threatened by habitat loss. The Himalayan large-eared flying squirrel was formerly considered a subspecies but is now a separate species in its own genus (Wikipedia, general species account).
It stores nuts in caches 10–25 m from the nearest nut-producing tree, which may reduce theft, unlike squirrels of temperate zones, which usually store nuts in ground holes or under leaf litter. The cached account gives no measurements or breeding information.
