Indotestudo elongata
Rare visitor: recorded only occasionally in this country
Range
Recorded from Vietnam; see species account for evidence limits
Elongated Tortoise (Indotestudo elongata) is a reptile recorded for Vietnam in the project inventory. Its supporting occurrence note is “Expert range list”. The accepted scientific name is retained because regional taxonomy and species boundaries can change, while similar-looking taxa may require detailed morphology or genetic evidence for reliable separation. This profile therefore distinguishes the recorded identity and occurrence from broader biological context instead of inventing unsupported locality, size, diet or breeding details (project species data; Reptile Database taxonomy).
Indotestudo tortoises are terrestrial, high-domed turtles that forage on the forest floor and in adjoining scrub. Their diet is broadly omnivorous, including fallen plant material, fungi and small animal matter, while shelter and seasonal activity vary with climate. They lay hard-shelled eggs on land. These are genus-level characteristics rather than Vietnam-specific observations of this record, so exact dimensions, habitat limits, diet proportions and clutch values are omitted (general Indotestudo account; Reptile Database).
