Amphiesma stolatum
Rare visitor: recorded only occasionally in this country
Range
Recorded from Vietnam; see species account for evidence limits
Buff Striped Keelback (Amphiesma stolatum) is a snake recorded for Vietnam in the project inventory. Its supporting occurrence note is “GBIF: 155 Vietnam records”. The accepted scientific name is retained because regional snake taxonomy and species boundaries can change, while similar-looking species may require scale counts, anatomy or genetic evidence for reliable separation. This profile therefore distinguishes the recorded identity and occurrence from broader biological context instead of inventing unsupported locality, size, diet or breeding details (project species data; Reptile Database taxonomy).
Amphiesma keelbacks are slender, nonvenomous snakes associated broadly with damp ground, grassy edges, wetlands and stream margins. They forage actively for frogs, earthworms and other small prey, using keeled scales and flexible bodies to move through dense cover. Taxonomic revisions have reassigned many former members to other genera. These are genus-level notes rather than Vietnamese field observations of this record, so exact size, habitat, prey and clutch values are not inferred (general Amphiesma account; Reptile Database).
