Pseudoxenodon macrops
Rare visitor: recorded only occasionally in this country
Range
Recorded from Vietnam; see species account for evidence limits
Large-eyed Bamboo Snake (Pseudoxenodon macrops) is a snake recorded for Vietnam in the project inventory. Its supporting occurrence note is “GBIF: 131 Vietnam records”. The accepted scientific name is retained because regional snake taxonomy and species boundaries can change, while similar-looking species may require scale counts, anatomy or genetic evidence for reliable separation. This profile therefore distinguishes the recorded identity and occurrence from broader biological context instead of inventing unsupported locality, size, diet or breeding details (project species data; Reptile Database taxonomy).
Pseudoxenodon false cobras are terrestrial forest snakes capable of flattening or spreading the neck when threatened, a defensive display that does not make them true cobras. They forage among litter and low vegetation for frogs and other small vertebrates. Species occur in moist hill and mountain habitats, but local ecology varies. These are genus-level notes rather than observations of this Vietnamese record, so exact elevation, body size, diet and reproductive figures are not inferred (general Pseudoxenodon account; Reptile Database).
