Naja fuxi
Rare visitor: recorded only occasionally in this country
Range
Recorded from Vietnam; see species account for evidence limits
Brown Banded Cobra (Naja fuxi) is a snake recorded for Vietnam in the project inventory. Its supporting occurrence note is “Expert range list”. The accepted scientific name is retained because regional snake taxonomy and species boundaries can change, while similar-looking species may require scale counts, anatomy or genetic evidence for reliable separation. This profile therefore distinguishes the recorded identity and occurrence from broader biological context instead of inventing unsupported locality, size, diet or breeding details (project species data; Reptile Database taxonomy).
Naja cobras are venomous elapids able to raise the front of the body and spread a hood when threatened. They hunt a range of small vertebrates and may occupy natural or human-modified habitats, although ecology differs among species. Some lineages can project venom defensively toward the eyes; all should be given ample space and never handled. These are genus-level notes rather than observations of this species in Vietnam, so exact size, diet, habitat and clutch figures are omitted (general Naja account; Reptile Database).
