Fowlea flavipunctata
Rare visitor: recorded only occasionally in this country
Range
Recorded from Vietnam; see species account for evidence limits
Yellow-spotted Keelback (Fowlea flavipunctata) is a snake recorded for Vietnam in the project inventory. Its supporting occurrence note is “Expert range list”. The accepted scientific name is retained because regional snake taxonomy and species boundaries can change, while similar-looking species may require scale counts, anatomy or genetic evidence for reliable separation. This profile therefore distinguishes the recorded identity and occurrence from broader biological context instead of inventing unsupported locality, size, diet or breeding details (project species data; Reptile Database taxonomy).
Fowlea keelbacks are active, nonvenomous water-associated snakes found around ponds, streams, marshes and flooded agricultural habitats. They swim readily and hunt frogs, fishes and other small wetland animals, while strongly keeled scales give the body a rough texture. Members may also forage on banks and shelter beneath nearby cover. These are genus-level notes rather than observations tied to this Vietnamese record, so exact size, habitat, diet and clutch figures are omitted (general Fowlea account; Reptile Database).
