Range
Indian subcontinent
The streak-throated woodpecker is a medium-sized green woodpecker with a streaked throat and scaly whitish underparts. It is green above with a yellowish rump, white eyebrows and a white-and-black moustache, a dark, plain tail and a smallish dark bill. The male has a red crown and the female a blackish one. It is told from the streak-breasted woodpecker by its darker eyes, less dense streaking below and broader moustache (Wikipedia, general species account).
It lives in drier woodland across the Indian subcontinent, from the lowlands up to the foothills of the mountains. The cached species account gives little on its behaviour or breeding. SoIB 2023 lists it as a resident forest bird in India with a moderate range, finds its long-term trend stable, and rates it a Low conservation priority (Wikipedia, general species account; SoIB 2023).
