Sphenomorphus cryptotis

Recorded from Vietnam; see species account for evidence limits
Sphenomorphus cryptotis (Sphenomorphus cryptotis) is a lizard recorded for Vietnam in the project inventory. Its supporting occurrence note is “Expert range list”. The exact scientific name is retained because many Vietnamese reptiles are recently described, geographically restricted or difficult to distinguish from close relatives. This profile therefore separates the recorded identity and occurrence from broader biological context instead of inventing unsupported locality, size, diet or breeding details (project species data; Reptile Database taxonomy).
Sphenomorphus are forest skinks that forage mainly on or close to the ground among leaf litter, rocks, fallen wood and streamside cover. They feed on insects and other small invertebrates, escaping rapidly into litter or crevices when disturbed. Many regional species look broadly similar, so scale arrangement, body proportions and locality are important for identification. These are genus-level ecological notes rather than documented observations of this particular species in Vietnam, and no unsupported clutch, size or elevation values are supplied (general Sphenomorphus ecology; Reptile Database).
