The lanceolated warbler is a Locustella warbler that breeds from north-west European Russia across the Palearctic to northern Hokkaido, Japan. The adult has a streaked brown back and whitish-grey underparts with small lance-head-like streaks, also found on the undertail; the sexes are identical, but young birds are yellower below. It is migratory, wintering in Southeast Asia (Wikipedia, general species account).
Five eggs are laid in a nest in a tussock. The song is a monotonous mechanical, insect-like reeling as in other species of the group, often given at dusk. The cached account does not describe its Indian range. SoIB 2023 lists it as a winter migrant of wetland that eats invertebrates, without a priority category (Wikipedia, general species account; SoIB 2023).
