Staphida torqueola
Rare visitor: recorded only occasionally in this country
The Indochinese yuhina or chestnut-collared yuhina (Staphida torqueola) is a bird in the family Zosteropidae. The species was first described by Robert Swinhoe in 1870. Staphida torqueola is the scientific name used by the project species list. The description here uses general species-wide information and does not imply that every trait has been documented separately in Vietnam. Geographic and seasonal variation should be expected across the wider range. (Wikipedia, general species account).
Babblers and their close allies are typically active passerines of forest, scrub or dense undergrowth. Many move in pairs, family parties or mixed-species flocks while searching foliage, bark and leaf litter for invertebrates, sometimes supplementing them with fruit or seeds. Voice and social behaviour are often valuable identification clues. These statements provide family-level context and are not Vietnam-specific breeding measurements (general babbler ecology).
