Goniurosaurus huuliensis
Rare visitor: recorded only occasionally in this country
Range
Recorded from Vietnam; see species account for evidence limits
Goniurosaurus huuliensis (Goniurosaurus huuliensis) is a gecko recorded for Vietnam in the project inventory. The supporting occurrence note is “Expert range list”. Retaining the exact scientific name is especially important because Vietnam has exceptional gecko diversity, many species are known from very small areas, and taxonomic revisions continue to separate close-looking populations. The account therefore distinguishes confirmed identity and occurrence from broader natural-history context (project species data; Reptile Database taxonomy).
Goniurosaurus are eyelid geckos without broad adhesive toe pads. They are nocturnal, terrestrial hunters associated with humid forest, limestone, rocky slopes and caves, spending daylight in crevices and taking arthropods after dark. Their bold bands or spots vary with age. Many species occupy tiny ranges and are distinguished by scalation and genetics. These are genus-level traits rather than species-specific clutch or incubation data (general Goniurosaurus ecology; Reptile Database).
