Suthora verreauxi

The golden parrotbill (Suthora verreauxi) is a species of bird in the family Paradoxornithidae. It is found in China, Laos, Japan, Myanmar, Taiwan, and Vietnam. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist montane forests. Its scientific name commemorates French ornithologist and collector Jules Verreaux. Suthora verreauxi is the scientific name used by the project species list. The description here uses general species-wide information and does not imply that every trait has been documented separately in Vietnam. (Wikipedia, general species account).

Parrotbills are social Asian passerines with short, deep bills, usually moving through bamboo, reeds, scrub or forest undergrowth in pairs or flocks. They take small invertebrates and plant foods such as seeds according to species and season. Their dense-cover habits can make voice and flock behaviour useful identification clues. These are family-level notes rather than species-specific Vietnamese breeding data (general Paradoxornithidae ecology).
