The dusky thrush is a member of the thrush family that breeds eastwards from central Siberia to Kamchatka, wintering in Korea, Japan, South China and Myanmar. It has a dark brown back and rump, black face, breast and flank spots, a white belly and undertail, a reddish-brown underwing and a pale eyebrow. It is closely related to the more southerly breeding Naumann's thrush, and the two have often been regarded as conspecific (Wikipedia, general species account).

It is omnivorous and strongly migratory, wintering south to Southeast Asia, principally in China and neighbouring countries. It breeds in open woodland, nesting in trees and laying three to five eggs in an untidy but neatly lined nest. The cached account does not describe its Indian range. SoIB 2023 lists it as a winter migrant of non-specialised habitat that eats invertebrates, without a priority category (Wikipedia, general species account; SoIB 2023).
