Indotyphlops braminus
Rare visitor: recorded only occasionally in this country
Range
Recorded from Vietnam; see species account for evidence limits
Brahminy Blindsnake (Indotyphlops braminus) is a snake recorded for Vietnam in the project inventory. Its supporting occurrence note is “GBIF: 123 Vietnam records”. The accepted scientific name is retained because regional snake taxonomy and species boundaries can change, while similar-looking species may require scale counts, anatomy or genetic evidence for reliable separation. This profile therefore distinguishes the recorded identity and occurrence from broader biological context instead of inventing unsupported locality, size, diet or breeding details (project species data; Reptile Database taxonomy).
Indotyphlops blind snakes are tiny, burrowing snakes with reduced eyes, cylindrical bodies and smooth scales. They live in soil, compost, litter and other loose substrates, feeding chiefly on ant and termite eggs, larvae and pupae. Some populations reproduce without males, which has helped them spread through transported soil and plants. These are general genus-level characteristics rather than observations from a Vietnamese locality, so exact size, habitat, diet quantity and reproductive timing are omitted (general Indotyphlops account; Reptile Database).
