Ingerophrynus galeatus
Rare visitor: recorded only occasionally in this country
Range
Recorded from Vietnam; see species account for evidence limits
Bony-headed Toad (Ingerophrynus galeatus) is an amphibian recorded for Vietnam in the project inventory. Its supporting occurrence note is “GBIF: 125 Vietnam records”. The supplied scientific name is retained because regional amphibian taxonomy and species boundaries can change, while similar-looking species may require calls, detailed morphology or genetic evidence for reliable separation. This profile therefore distinguishes the recorded identity and occurrence from broader biological context instead of inventing unsupported locality, size, diet or breeding details (project species data; Amphibian Species of the World taxonomy).
These true toads belong to a ground-dwelling lineage with dry-looking, glandular skin and prominent poison glands behind the eyes in many species. Adults forage for insects and other small invertebrates, while reproduction usually involves strings of eggs laid in water and free-swimming tadpoles. Habitat tolerance and breeding season vary substantially. These are genus- or family-level notes rather than Vietnamese field observations of this record, so exact size, diet, call, habitat and clutch values are omitted (general bufonid context; Amphibian Species of the World).
