The black-breasted thrush is a thrush found from north-eastern India to northern Vietnam, the common name referring to the colour of the male's breast. Although both sexes have the same colour on the lower parts, the upper section of males is mostly black while females are mostly grey-brown. It is 22–23.5 cm long including the tail (Wikipedia, general species account).
Its call has been described as sweet, mellow and melodious, with musical phrases of three to eight notes. Breeding time varies by country: black-breasted thrushes in India breed from April to July, those in Myanmar from April to June and in China from May to June. SoIB 2023 rates it a Moderate conservation priority, a resident and altitudinal migrant forest bird and omnivore with a Restricted range of about 32,600 km² and insufficient data on trends (Wikipedia, general species account; SoIB 2023).
