Azemiops feae
Rare visitor: recorded only occasionally in this country
Range
Recorded from Vietnam; see species account for evidence limits
Azemiops feae (Azemiops feae) is a snake recorded for Vietnam in the project inventory. Its supporting occurrence note is “Expert range list”. The accepted scientific name is retained because regional snake taxonomy and species boundaries can change, while similar-looking species may require scale counts, anatomy or genetic evidence for reliable separation. This profile therefore distinguishes the recorded identity and occurrence from broader biological context instead of inventing unsupported locality, size, diet or breeding details (project species data; Reptile Database taxonomy).
Azemiops are stout, primarily terrestrial vipers associated with cool wooded uplands and forest-floor cover. Their contrasting head pattern and smooth-looking body form differ from the more angular heads of many pit vipers. They are venomous ambush predators that take small vertebrate prey, but ecology and reproduction remain incompletely documented. These are genus-level notes, not observations tied to this Vietnamese record, and they should not be used to infer an exact habitat, body size or breeding schedule (general Azemiops account; Reptile Database).
